As its name suggests, one of its most striking features is its vibrant blue beard, which contrasts beautifully with its greenish-blue plumage. These birds are typically found in lowland forests, often near water bodies where they hunt insects, especially bees and wasps, which they catch mid-air using their agile flight skills. They are social birds and often seen in pairs or small groups during the breeding season.
