The wind sweeps across the open landscape, ruffling the bird’s feathers as it methodically preens, stretching its neck to reach its wings and flanks, fluffing up its body to shake off dust. Every now and then, it pauses, tilts its head slightly upward, and lets out its signature call, a crisp, rising "chee-chik-chee" that rings out clearly despite the gusts.
