Coppersmith Barbet: Feeding the Next Generation | Kyra Wellness Resort, Sanghinagar, Hyderabad | 4K Captured this behavior at Kyra Wellness Resort in Sanghinagar. The Coppersmith Barbet is a cavity-nesting bird, often choosing tree trunks or branches with soft wood to carve out its nest hole. Once the chicks hatch, both parents work tirelessly to feed them. They bring soft fruits, mainly figs, berries, or other pulpy fruits and sometimes small insects to provide the chicks with essential nutrients for fast growth. The parent bird arrives at the nest hole with food held delicately in its beak. It perches at the entrance, peeks inside to locate the hungry chick, and gently passes the food directly into the chick’s mouth. This exchange is often quick, keeping the parent alert to potential predators nearby.
