Wings of Pink: Flamingos Descend on Pulicat Lake, Andhra Pradesh | #4K | #sriramwildlifephotographer As the bright blue sky stretches over Pulicat Lake, the midday sun casts its shimmering light on the vast expanse of shallow water. A distant pink wave begins to form on the horizon, at first, just a blur, but soon, thousands of Greater Flamingos appear in the sky, moving together in a mesmerizing rhythm. With their long necks outstretched and legs trailing behind, they glide effortlessly, their black-tipped wings adding contrast to their soft pink plumage. The air fills with a chorus of low, guttural calls as the birds begin their descent, wings fanning out to slow their approach. One by one, they skim the water’s surface, their thin legs slicing through the ripples before finally settling in. As more birds land, the lake transforms into a sea of pink, their reflections dancing on the water. Some immediately dip their beaks to feed, filtering out tiny organisms, while others stretch their wings or preen their feathers.
