Spur-Winged Lapwing, An Unexpected Guest at Warangal, India #SpurWingedLapwing The arrival of the Spur-Winged Lapwing in Warangal, Telangana state, during the winter of 2024 has caused a significant buzz in India's birding community. This species, typically found in the Mediterranean, African, and Middle Eastern regions, has never before been spotted in our country, leading to various theories circulating among enthusiasts about its unexpected presence. The Spur-Winged Lapwing was initially sighted by local photographer Mr. Jagan Pannala at Ammavaripeta Cheruvu lake on January 24th, 2024. Subsequent visits to the area confirmed its presence.
