They typically consume fruits whole and rely on their digestive systems to process the fruit. But at Narsapur forest in Telangana, I had the opportunity to record the behavior of an Indian Grey Hornbill peeling neem fruits before swallowing them. The peeling of neem fruits before consumption might suggest a level of food processing behavior that isn't widely documented for this species. After digestion, they often excrete the seeds, which helps in seed dispersal.
