Stretching for Survival: The Neck Elongation Behavior of Yellow Bittern | Manjeera, Telangana | 4K Bitterns elongate their necks for several reasons, primarily related to their hunting and defensive behaviors. Bitterns often inhabit reed beds and other dense vegetation. When they elongate their necks and point their bills upward, they blend seamlessly with the surrounding reeds and grasses. This behavior, known as "bitterning," helps them avoid detection by predators and prey alike.
