Spot billed Pelicans Feeding Behavior #SpotBilledPelicans Spot-billed pelicans often engage in cooperative fishing, where they work together to herd fish into shallow water or corner them against obstacles like banks or vegetation. This coordinated effort increases the efficiency of their hunting and allows them to catch more prey than they would individually. When hunting in groups, spot-billed pelicans may form a line or semi-circle in the water, with individuals strategically positioned to encircle and trap fish. This formation allows them to effectively block escape routes for the fish and ensures that no prey can slip through gaps in the group. Captured this moment at Musi River backwaters in Suryapet District of Telangana state.
