Chiplun's (चिपळूण) Unique Holi Festival: होल्टे होम   Every year, in Savarde village in Chiplun taluka, people gather at 'Holte Home' to celebrate the unique Holi festival.   On the night of Holi Chhaya Adlya, the Gavkari come together to prepare Lakdanche Holta (2-3 feet long pieces of wood) and divide into two groups. These groups then throw burning embers at each other, making the festival both exciting and special. The unique aspect of the tradition is throwing burning wood, which adds to the auspiciousness of the festival.   A large crowd of people gathers to witness the event, and all the village communities come together to celebrate the festival of Gajrat with drums and cymbals. This tradition is the only one of its kind in Maharashtra, where Holi is celebrated before the Holi Adlya Ratri Homa is performed.   Every year, many tourists visit Savarde Gawala to see Holi celebrated in this unique way.
