Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 7 – Jnana Vijnana Yoga Sri Bhagawan Uvaca: Verse 7-11 I have two prakriti – para and apara. Everything is experienced through matter and energy. Then, how can I say that this is all energy. Your ideas, pranshakti is all apara. How should we understand para, which is nirgun? Now bhagawan is trying to tell you about para. To understand para – you will get some indication. Jiva – everyone has three instincts without any efforts (nobody teaches): Body – to correct itself and to duplicate the self. Mind – always looking for happiness or peace not sadness – looking for bliss. Budhi – looking for answers till it gets the absolute truth They are available in para prakriti and are projected through apara prakriti. We cannot see para prakriti until it is projected through apara. Like light is projected through bulb, then we know that there is electricity. All equipment quality will determine the effect of electricity. The state of my mind (color of mind) will determine the level of projection of para prakriti through apara prakriti. Color is apara, power of color is para. The property of seed will determine the type of fruits it will bear using the earth nutrients. The fruits are part of apara prakriti. But the power of bearing the fruits is part of para prakriti. Oxygen is incidental. The power of absorbing the oxygen in the body is part of para prakriti. The interpretation of color is apara. The power of that color discrimination is para. When para and apara prakriti’s are joined together then we see the Srishti.  Purusha (para) + Prakriti (apara) Intellect always tries to analyze things in understanding and knowing state. In state of being we merge with totality. Aakash is related with sound (vibrations) Vayu – activates touch + sound (listening) Agni – seeing, listening and touch Water – sound, touch, seeing and taste (water must be there) Earth – all the above four plus smell. We observe/experience Srishti through one of these five elements/senses. Now mind + budhi + ahankara is projected through power of para shakti. Verse 12 – Three gunnas are not entangled with para shakti. When everyone is bhagawan? Pranav - OM – primordial sound (vibration), which works on a base which is not vibrating – state of Turya (state before sound and state after sound is the state of Turya) A – Aa – Creation – Brahma – Awake (ego is present) U – Uu – Sustenance – Vishnu – Dream (ego is present) M – Ma – Pralayam – Deep sleep (no ego); Turya is also represented.
