Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 7 – Jnana Vijnana Yoga Sri Bhagawan Uvaca: Verse 1-3 Common Gyan and adhyatma Gyan (vigyan) is being discussed. Shri Krishna is saying t hat I will tell you about the vigyan and nothing will be left. After knowing this you would not be required to know. Only one of 1000’s tries to know yourself (Self). Also, among those 1000’s only one gets to know (Being). Verse 4-6 In Dwait we continue to ask questions, for which there is no answer. In Adwait, there is no question. My nature has two aspects: Jad – lower nature – air, earth, water, fire, aakash. All these five elements are experienced through five senses. Aakash is related to sound. Air is hearable and can be felt. Agni can be seen, felt, and heard. Water is taste …. Earth has first four plus smell sense. These five elements are experienced through five senses. When we move from Sansar towards adhyatma then we go from elements to senses. Chaitanya (higher nature) Hydrogen and oxygen when mixed creates water. Now water has new property to wet. Source does not have mind, when product is made then you have mind/budhi. Budhi will continue to ask questions until it finds the truth. When mind is taken away from the budhi, then it will try to find the truth. Mind’s activities are meant to take you towards no-mind. Ahankara is sum of all vasanas. All of these are inert. To make them active, you need Chaitanya. All these are Chalay-man because of consciousness (Chaitanya). Chaitanya is the key to have a living being (physical + subtle + Chaitanya). Different stages of atma are projected as Ahankara (budhi + mind ke adheen hai). As we start purifying the mind we start moving towards “being” from “knowing”. Without Chaitanya you cannot understand anything. The problem occurs when mind is activated to the level where it starts asking questions - what is consciousness. Chaitanya is the light that illuminates everything in this universe. Once you reach the state of being, no questions are left. Everything is happening according to nature. Whatever I am today is due to the results of actions done in the past. Prarabdha is deciding the time and date of birth based on the environment and actions performed in the past. We have a lot of desires, and we insist on getting the desired results. But Prarabdha will decide the results based on the current deeds and past deeds. Our Rishi’s talked about dharma based on the duties that a person should perform.
