Vasota Fort trekking is a great adventure for nature lovers. Here&rsquo;s what you do:
<ul>
<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Drive to a boat pickup point.</li>
<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Take a scenic 80-90 minute boat ride on the Koyna Dam reservoir.</li>
<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Trek through the Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary and Sahyadri Tiger Reserve for about 90-120 minutes.</li>
<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Reach the top of Vasota Fort and enjoy the amazing 360&deg; view.</li>
<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Descend the same way for 60-90 minutes. Near the end, drink fresh mountain water.</li>
<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Take the boat back for another 80-90 minutes.</li>
<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Drive back to your hotel or home.</li>
</ul>
Things to carry for trek:

<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Water bottle to carry at least 2 liters of water per person</li>
<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Sport shoes with good holding grip Some dry food, as you will not get anything once you left Bamnoli (base village)</li>
<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Do carry instant energizers like Glucon-D or Tang (especially during sunny day)</li>
<li class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">The trek is moderately difficult, so anyone aged 4 and up can do it with enough motivation.&nbsp; At the top, you can see the mighty Sahyadri mountains all around.</li>

This place is especially beautiful during the monsoon season, with green hills, clouds and a myriad of waterfalls.

<pre class=" text-gray-800 whitespace-pre-wrap">Sinhagad Fort, located in Thoptewadi, about 35 km from Pune, is a 2000-year-old fort, also called Kondhana Killa. It&rsquo;s perched on a plateau in the Sahyadri mountains, at an elevation of 1300 meters above sea level, with steep slopes offering natural defense. The fort features two main gates: Pune Darwaza (northeast) and Kalyan Darwaza (southeast). Visitors can hire local guides to learn about the fort&rsquo;s history while exploring the area.

Sinhagad Fort trek difficulty level: Beginner to intermediate

Things to see at Sinhagad Fort:
Grand Entrance Gates &ndash; Two gates: Pune Darwaza (from Pune) and Kalyan Darwaza (towards Kalyan). Built with large stone blocks, lead, and limestone. 

Tanaji Kada &ndash; Steep cliff where Tanaji Mulasare climbed with a small army at night, aided by a tamed monitor lizard.

Khandkada Machi &ndash; Eastern tip of the fort, near Pune Darwaza. Used to monitor Purandar Fort and the Mula-Mutha rivers. Great for panoramic views.

Kalavanteen Buruj &ndash; Intact turret offering views of surrounding hills, valleys, and Tanaji Kada.

Kade Lot &ndash; Cliff edge where prisoners were reportedly thrown. Known as Sunset Point, offering views of Pune city lights at night.

Wind Point &ndash; Area with strong winds, where the "reverse falls" phenomenon occurs&mdash;water is blown back up the cliff.

Tanaji Malusare&rsquo;s Memorial &ndash; Memorial marking the resting place of Tanaji Malusare, who died in battle. Features his bust.

Chhatrapati Rajaram&rsquo;s Tomb &ndash; Tomb of the fort's caretaker. Resembling Muslim architecture, it includes a Tulsi Vrindavan and views of Khadakwasla Dam and Pune city.

Sinhagad Fort Temples &ndash; Includes Kaundinyeshwar Temple (Shiva), Amruteshwar Temple (Bhairav &amp; Bhairavi), Hanuman Temple, and Kali Temple.

Dev Taake &ndash; A well with sweet, cold water. One of the fort's water sources, providing a refreshing stop for visitors.

Lokmanya Tilak&rsquo;s Bungalow &ndash; Former summer house of Lokmanya Tilak, where he hosted Gandhiji and other leaders for discussions during the freedom struggle.

Chiplun's (चिपळूण) Unique Holi Festival: होल्टे होम

Every year, in Savarde village in Chiplun taluka, people gather at 'Holte Home' to celebrate the unique Holi festival.
&nbsp;
On the night of Holi Chhaya Adlya, the Gavkari come together to prepare Lakdanche Holta (2-3 feet long pieces of wood) and divide into two groups. These groups then throw burning embers at each other, making the festival both exciting and special. The unique aspect of the tradition is throwing burning wood, which adds to the auspiciousness of the festival.

A large crowd of people gathers to witness the event, and all the village communities come together to celebrate the festival of Gajrat with drums and cymbals. This tradition is the only one of its kind in Maharashtra, where Holi is celebrated before the Holi Adlya Ratri Homa is performed.
