The Greatness of the Gayatri Mantra:
The Gayatri Mantra is the most powerful and revered Vedic mantras, hailed as the "Mother of all Vedas". It is found in the Rig Veda (3.62.10) and is addressed to Savitr, the divine solar being who inspires life and consciousness.
Gayatri Mantra (Rig Veda 3.62.10):
“Om bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ
tat savitur vareṇyaṁ
bhargo devasya dhīmahi
dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt”
Meaning:
We meditate on the divine brilliance of the Supreme Creator, who has created the three realms – Earth, Atmosphere, and Heaven. May that divine light illuminate our intellect.
🕉️ Why It Is Considered Great
Universal in Nature
Unlike sectarian prayers, the Gayatri Mantra is non-denominational and universal. It does not mention any specific deity by name but refers to the divine cosmic light (Savitr) that powers all life and intellect.
Scriptural Endorsement
The Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, and Samaveda all revere Gayatri.
Manu Smriti (2.77): “Among all mantras, the Gayatri is the most sacred.”
Bhagavad Gita (10.35): Lord Krishna says, “Among hymns, I am the Gayatri.”
Transformational Power
According to Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the mantra clears the mind, preparing it for inner awakening.
Sage Vishwamitra, to whom the mantra was revealed, is himself a symbol of transformation — from king to Brahmarshi — through the power of austerity and the Gayatri.
Scientific Reverence
Studies have shown that chanting Gayatri calms the nervous system, synchronizes brain hemispheres, and improves cognitive function (source: Neuroscience of Mantras, Indian Journal of Physiology).
Symbol of Divine Mother
Gayatri is personified as the Divine Mother of all mantras. She is also regarded as the Shakti (energy) of Lord Brahma, the creator.
Adi Shankaracharya referred to Gayatri as Veda Mata — the mother of all knowledge.
Spiritual Practice
Reciting Gayatri Mantra with discipline and purity (especially during the Sandhya – dawn, noon, and dusk) is said to awaken higher consciousness and lead the seeker toward moksha (liberation).
📜 Historical Usage and Endorsements
Swami Vivekananda called Gayatri Mantra the "most glorious chant", emphasizing it for universal spiritual upliftment.
Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, founder of Arya Samaj, reinstituted its use to revive Vedic values.
Modern yogis and saints, like Swami Sivananda and Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya (Gayatri Parivar), have prescribed it for inner purity, spiritual growth, and mental strength.
🌞 Conclusion
The Gayatri Mantra is more than just a sacred chant. It is an invocation for enlightenment, a spiritual key to transcend the darkness of ignorance, and a bridge to the divine light. It uplifts not only the chanter but also radiates peace to the surroundings. Its greatness lies in its timelessness, universality, and deep metaphysical power.

Gayatri Mantra 108 Times | Vedic Chanting with Lyrics & Meaning | Powerful Healing Mantra
In this month of Shravan(July 2025), lets contemplate what is it that we mean by Shiva in Sanatan Dharma
Shiva – The Timeless One, Master of Time
Shiva is not merely a god—he is Kāla (Time) and Mahākāla (Beyond Time).
As the destroyer in the Trimurti, he does not end life out of wrath, but dissolves it so that creation may renew, aligning perfectly with the cyclical nature of time in Hindu cosmology—birth, preservation, destruction, and rebirth.
The Time Deity:
Shiva dances the Tandava not just in space, but in time, rhythmically collapsing illusion and ego.
He is the stillness in chaos and the silence after the end—the witness of all that changes, yet never changed himself. Why He Is Unbothered: Shiva is completely self-realized, and thus, utterly free.
Draped in ashes, dwelling in cremation grounds, smeared in simplicity—he is indifferent to societal norms, because he sees the truth beneath them. He is the ultimate outsider, yet the deepest insider of consciousness—untouched by praise or blame, for he transcends duality.
Sanyasi and Gṛihastha—Both at Once:
As Adi Yogi, he is the supreme ascetic, immersed in meditation and solitude. Yet as Pashupati, he is a devoted husband to Pārvatī and a nurturing father to Ganesha and Kārtikeya. This beautiful paradox reflects the Sanātana truth: true renunciation is not in withdrawal, but in detachment—one can be in the world, yet not of it.
Shiva shows us that time bows to the one who is free of identity. He teaches that moksha is not escape from life, but complete mastery over it. He is the dissolver of illusion, the awakener of truth, and the eternal presence within all things.
May this Shravan bless us all with realization of the Shiva within!

Gupt Navratri Sadhna Special Shri Durga Dwatrinshat Naamavali is about Thirty Two significant names of Mother Divine which come from DurgaSaptshati.
The core endeavour in this video, is to provide the meaning of each name of the divine mother in both English and Hindi. When recited along with comprehension, these names help a devotee enhance her proximity to The Divine Mother.
Though the video showcases various images of divine to attract young minds, the meanings presented here insist that she is far beyond the physical realm bound by look & feel. Despite being simplest, she is difficult for the difficulties.
Many of us, in our busy lives, just recite her names in haste while ignoring the interpretation and hence maintain the same distance from the divine throughout our life.
This small video helps bridge that gap and help strengthen the bond between a devotee and The Mother Divine. Last, but not the least, this is a medium to introduce young minds to our very own Creator and protector, The Divine Mother, not just by pictures, but by the deep intent that her powerful names hold. Jai Jaganmata!
About Devi Sukt: The Devi Sukt(or Vaak Sukt) is a revelation by the Divine Mother herself in which She confers that She is not only the origin of all creation, She is also the Creation herself.
Everything in the cosmic and supernatural world is run & governed by Her. It is perhaps the oldest hymn pertaining to the Universal Mother Goddess.
A hymn of eight verses from the Rig Veda, it is the 125th sukta in the 10th chapter of the Rig Veda. This mighty Sukt, which is the word of Adi Paramba herself, is also mentioned in Shri Durga Saptshati as Devi Sukt. Of the eight mantras in this hymn, seven are in the trishtup chandas and only the second mantra is in the jagati chandas. It is explained that this hymn was rendered by the rishika (Vaak) in a state of complete self- realization(ecstasy), when she had identified herself as being one with the Goddess, and hence spoke as the Goddess herself. For this reason, both the "rishi"(“seer”) and the "Devta" (“seen”) of this sukt are said to be Vaak only. It is known that the Rishika Vaak was the daughter of Rishi Ambhrina; and hence the complete name of this hymn is also called as Vagambhrini Sukta or Ambhrini Sukta. Benefits: Devi Sukt, being the word from Devi herself, carries immense power and emotional depth. It is widely chanted today in many places. By reciting it, one can attain Vak Shakti (the power of speech), Medha Shakti (intelligence), and Aatma Jnana (self-realization). Its recitation, listening, contemplation, reading & study is extremely rewarding for every human being. Detailed Meaning of Devi Sukt: 1. I walk with Rudra and Vasus, and with Aadityas & all Gods. I am both Mitra & Varuna, I am Indra & Agni, I am the two Ashwins. 2. I sustain and cherish pressed out Soma, Twashta, Pushan and Bhaga. I give wealth to the person who brings oblation. 3. I am the empress, the bestower of treasures, I am the first one to be worshipped in Yagnya. Thus God established me in many places with many homes to enter and dwell in. 4. Only through me, all eat food. whoever sees, breathes, hears what is said. They reside in me, though they don't know. Listen, one and all, I say that is truth. 5. Certainly, I myself speak all this - what is welcome by the Gods and men. I make strong, whomever I love. I make him a Brahma, a sage and a Rishi. 6. I bend the bow of Rudra for him to slay the unbeliever with his arrow. I make conflict among the people and I have pervaded Earth and Heaven. 7. I give birth to the father on the world's summit. My source is in water and in ocean. Then I spread through all the worlds, and touch this heaven with my eminence. 8. It is I who blow as the winds and tempest, taking hold of all the worlds. I became so mighty in my splendor by going beyond this wide earth and the heavens. This is my attempt to recite this great Sukt in original Vedic Swar. Any mistakes are regretted from the divine Mother! Let’s offer our reverential salutations to the Supreme Goddess!
Om Namah Shivay, I recently learnt is a "Vedic" mantra, I initially thought it originated in Shiv Purana. This makes its even more powerful. Also learning that the Seer of this is Sage Vaamdev.
इसका विनियोग परिचय इस प्रकार है( Introduction is as follows):
ऋषि (Seer): वामदेव ऋषि (Sage Vāmadeva)
छन्द (Meter): पङ्क्ति (Pankti – 5 syllables)
देवता (Presiding Deity): भगवान शिव
बीज (Seed Sound): ॐ (Om)
शक्ति (Power): उमा or पार्वती
कीलक (Pillar/Lock): पंचाक्षर itself is the key to liberation (moksha)
I hope this chant sung by me helps atleast one person get closer to Shiva! Om Namah Shivay

This is the first Mantra from Shri Rudraashtadhyayi(from Shukla Yajurved), which is dedicated to lord Shiva. This is one of the very First Mantras I learnt from my Grandpa and Guru. We recite this everyday while doing the daily rituals/Sadhna, during every auspicious occasion, and everywhere we have less idea about what to recite.. :) Simple, beautiful and yet VERY POWERFUL! गणानां — of the ganas / hosts / multitudes • त्वा — you (accusative) • गणपतिः — leader of the ganas (Ganapati) • हवामहे — we invoke / we offer (a ritual call) • प्रियाणां — of the beloved / of those dear • प्रियपतिः — lord of the beloved (one who is beloved or protects the dear) • निधीनां — of treasures / of hidden powers • निधिपति — lord of treasures • वसो मम — be my wealth / be my riches (vasa = wealth; mām / mama = my) • आहम् जानि — (I) know / (we) recognize — (textual: may appear as जानि/जानिगुरुत) • गर्भधमा — bearer/holder of the womb / that which sustains the seed (garbha = womb/seed; dhāma = holder/place) • त्वम् अजाति / त्वम् अजासि / त्वम जासि गर्भधम् — textual variants; roughly: “you are the progenitor / you cause the womb / you fashioned the womb” Jai Shri Ganesh.. :)
Sung in authentic Vedic Swaras with meanings in Hindi and English, this rendition invokes abundance, harmony, and inner peace.
