Bhagavad Gita Chapter 11 - Vishwarupa Darshana Yoga

Verse 1-14

Arjun understands the delusions and sources of delusion. He is traveling towards knowing to experience of delusion. In the path of Gyan yoga, ahankara is standing there. Therefore, Arjun is asking this question – I want to see how it appears. Please show your atmaswaroop. The real seeker of the truth will always look for experience (Anubhav).

Bhagawan is addressing Arjun as Parth (param artha – the one who has the desire to reach Brahman). Now, Bhagawan is ready to show His Atmaswaroop. In the moment when your desire becomes intense towards seeker of True-Self, you become Parth.

There are two ways to get the Guru’s grace (anukampa) and Prabhu ki anukampa:

·      Rama-Krishna Paramhans gave this grace to Vivekananda, which transformed him from Narendra to Vivekananda.

·      All enlightened people always say that they got it through the grace of the God.

To trigger the third eye, you meditate by focusing on the middle of the two eyebrows. Then, you start seeing the powerful light.

Verse 15 - 30

Divine Serpent – Shish Nag (Whatever is left); Shiva’s nag is Vasuki. Kundalini symbol is Nag. In a pharmacy – we see two Nags. Why serpent? We can answer it according to Vedas. But when we look at serpent from the spirituality perspective – you may find that the same serpent appearing during deep meditation – process of meditation (Harsh). Vasuki’s serpent is symbolized as shakti.

In Dwait school of thoughts – Bhagawan and everyone else is different. I am in this sansar.

That is why we are asking these questions. In Dwait, we have some principles e.g., Dharma, which is eternal. Arjun is in Dwait. Therefore, he is asking all these questions. Bhagawan is answering to his questions according to his present state. There is a hierarchy in Dwait. Dharma has a chain and at every link of the chain there is some level of understanding.

Arjun is asking questions based on his current level of understanding. Arjun is a son of Indra. He has been blessed with deva shakti. For him, it is real to see the sansar with his mental status.

Bhagawan is taking him a bit higher than his current level. Arjun is also saying that you are the protector of Sanatan Dharma. Agni’s dharma is to shed light and heat. Sun is there with all its planets moving around Sun. Earth’s Dharma is to move around the Sun. This individual Dharma is to perform its duties according to the laws of nature. The rules were created to protect this, Dharma. Bhagawan is the protector of these rules to establish harmony with nature.

Arjun is looking at the future according to his current understanding.

When people follow dharma in its current role – it is called Sur. Asur is the one who is not in harmony with nature and creates destruction. For example, if earth stops revolving around Sun, it will create disturbance in the planet system, because moon may get disturbed.

In Adwait – there are no questions.

Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 11 - Vishwarupa Darshna Yoga

Verse 30-40

I am the time. Because of this (influence of my Time and Roopa) they are all going to die. But you must perform your duties in this life. Bhishma and Drona – even though they recognize the glory of Bhagawan Shri Krishna, they are still identified themselves with their ahankara (ignorance).

  • Sat (existence) Asat (not manifested) – beyond these two there is nirguna brahma.
  •

  • Maha-vishnu – Saguna brahman. In this process, Brahama, Vishnu and Mahesh are given a particular responsibility.
  •

  • Sanatan Dharma is a science where 1000s of people have contributed. We are free to think and have perspective where spirituality and matter co-exist.
  •

  • Rajas’ knowledge has to be there to get out of Tamas. In Rajas, you need to have Sattvic knowledge to convert your activities into positive energy.

Journey of Atma

  1. The journey of Jivatma is a journey of purification. As soon as Maya is present, the identification gets associated with Atma and becomes Jivatma.
  2.

o   Space inside the house is limited; there is a living room, family room, bedroom and other spaces.

o   In this room, if we light an incense stick, now the characteristics of this room is changed. But this will not change the characteristics of the space.

o   Total space is replaced with Parmatma, which is all pervading.

o   Now we divided the space into different Jivatma (distinct character) with different characteristics. Now every room takes the shape of different Jivatma. Now when we open the window (knowledge), the smell is taken over by the outside air.

2.     When I am all-pervading then it is Parmatma (Aham Brahmasmi). When I am associated with ahankara, I am a father, I am an engineer – I am Jivatma.

o   When you were child, young and old, your smell changed, but the Atma is same. Change is temporary. Your space is same (Atma).

o   There are different stages of Jivatma before it takes next birth – there are different level of vasanas that determines the next birth. There are Guru’s who can still influence your thought process.
