BH Gita Ch7-Jnana Vijnana Yoga
Shri Bhagawan Uvaca:
Verse 23-30
Sometimes we try to understand the segment related to prakriti and fail to understand that our questions are related to a part of segments. Assumption is that Bhagawan made this Srishti due to some reasons. Mind, budhi and desires are required for Karana. Suppose mind is looking outside to find answers to questions and always looks for answers in this Srishti. But your inner divinity must be realized inside. You need to focus inside.
For every action/desire, there is a disturbance in the mind.
Yoga: chit-vritti nirodha
When prana shakti activates the vasana, then it comes into the periphery of my awareness. The mind will continue to act till we get that desire completed. Once that desire is completed, then we become satisfied and become calm. But next desire will arise, and mind will start acting on it to fulfil that desire. But mind acts on it to calm itself. During this process, our understanding is limited to activities related to mind.
Source of the desires must be cleared before you can realize your True Self. Mind is known by its movement. When mind is completely still, then it merges with True-Self (inner divinity).
Everything is happening according to prakriti, but I (Brahman) am not involved.
Karama-yoga – quantity of thoughts reduces
Janna (Gyan)-yoga – quality of thoughts improves
Bhakti-yoga – direction of thought process improves
If you see things in a linear fashion, you will have questions. But this entire process is circular in nature.
The energy is same, but it changes with diversification. The underlying source is same for all form of shakti – Hanuman, Durga, Parvati and more. Like source of water at home is same, but we drink from the kitchen tap only.
Verse 29-30
What is the motivation to reach ME. Some wants moksha. Some want to get rid of cycle of birth and death. You need to focus on ME to reach moksha.
Those who merge in ME, then he/she becomes yukta chetas.
Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 7 – Jnana Vijnana Yoga
Sri Bhagawan Uvaca:
Verse 1-3
Common Gyan and adhyatma Gyan (vigyan) is being discussed.
Shri Krishna is saying that I will tell you about the vigyan and nothing will be left. After knowing this you would not be required to know. Only one of 1000’s tries to know yourself (Self). Also, among those 1000’s only one gets to know (Being).
Verse 4-6
In Dwait we continue to ask questions, for which there is no answer. In Adwait, there is no question. My nature has two aspects:
Once you reach the state of being, no questions are left. Everything is happening according to nature. Whatever I am today is due to the results of actions done in the past. Prarabdha is deciding the time and date of birth based on the environment and actions performed in the past. We have a lot of desires, and we insist on getting the desired results. But Prarabdha will decide the results based on the current deeds and past deeds.
Our Rishi’s talked about dharma based on the duties that a person should perform.
Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 7 – Jnana Vijnana Yoga
Sri Bhagawan Uvaca:
Verse 7-11
I have two prakriti – para and apara. Everything is experienced through matter and energy. Then, how can I say that this is all energy. Your ideas, pranshakti is all apara. How should we understand para, which is nirgun? Now bhagawan is trying to tell you about para. To understand para – you will get some indication.
Jiva – everyone has three instincts without any efforts (nobody teaches):
They are available in para prakriti and are projected through apara prakriti. We cannot see para prakriti until it is projected through apara. Like light is projected through bulb, then we know that there is electricity. All equipment quality will determine the effect of electricity.
The state of my mind (color of mind) will determine the level of projection of para prakriti through apara prakriti. Color is apara, power of color is para.
The property of seed will determine the type of fruits it will bear using the earth nutrients. The fruits are part of apara prakriti. But the power of bearing the fruits is part of para prakriti.
Oxygen is incidental. The power of absorbing the oxygen in the body is part of para prakriti.
The interpretation of color is apara. The power of that color discrimination is para.
When para and apara prakriti’s are joined together then we see the Srishti.
Purusha (para) + Prakriti (apara)
Intellect always tries to analyze things in understanding and knowing state. In state of being we merge with totality.
We observe/experience Srishti through one of these five elements/senses.
Now mind + budhi + ahankara is projected through power of para shakti.
Verse 12 – Three gunnas are not entangled with para shakti. When everyone is bhagawan?
Pranav - OM – primordial sound (vibration), which works on a base which is not vibrating – state of Turya (state before sound and state after sound is the state of Turya)
A – Aa – Creation – Brahma – Awake (ego is present)
U – Uu – Sustenance – Vishnu – Dream (ego is present)
M – Ma – Pralayam – Deep sleep (no ego); Turya is also represented.
